Strengths Leadership Coaching

Hybrid

Apogee's Strengths Leadership Coaching is a six-month, comprehensive program tailored for Executive Directors, CEOs, and senior team leaders of color working at locally based, locally serving nonprofits. Led by a certified executive coach, Andre Samuels, this program enhances leadership effectiveness, fosters team cohesion, optimizes organizational performance, and builds positive external relationships. Participants receive 10 one-on-one 60-minute coaching sessions, two (2) assessments (Gallup CliftonStrengths and 360 Degree Leadership Assessment), and a personalized leadership development plan, and attend two (2) in-person cohort convenings (May 8 and October 9, 2024). Coaching meetings will be scheduled to fit participants' availability.

Self-ology: An Idari Experience

The Idari Collective is excited to offer Self-ology: An Idari Experience for women leaders of color working full-time in locally-based nonprofits located in the Greater Washington D.C. Region. Led by executive coach Dr. Michelle Edwards, this 7-week journey is designed to provide space for participants to cultivate inner strength while delving into their purpose alongside fellow female leaders. Through this journey, individuals will prioritize self-nurturance and self-care amidst the demands of advancing their organizations' missions. Cohort sessions will be held on Sundays from 2:00 - 3:30 pm, beginning April 21st and ending June 16th. Participants will also receive two 30-minute individual coaching sessions. Space is limited to 12 participants.

BIPOC Executive Director Cohort

This cohort program convenes Executive Directors leading small nonprofits in the Greater Washington region who identify as Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC). Over several virtual sessions and in-person activities, cohort members participate in peer-to-peer conversations facilitated by the Spur Local team about the topics they are interested in most. This cohort is designed for Executive Directors of locally-serving nonprofits, and a priority will be given to organizations with less than a $1.5M budget, although all are welcome to apply. Organizations must be headquartered in the DMV and do the majority of their work locally.

Rising Leaders Program

Rising Leaders is led by expert facilitators from the Careerstone Group, LLC, and will provide early-career or management professionals the tools they need to succeed as leaders. Participants gain insight and experience they can apply in any professional environment, and focus on: leadership and self-awareness, networking and relationship building, providing feedback, presentation skills, and managing up. Sessions will be held from 12:00-6:00pm in Arlington, VA. An Information Session will take place on January 11, 2024. Executive Preparation Institute

The Center for Nonprofit Advancement’s Executive Preparation Institute (EPI) is for nonprofit leaders exploring an executive director or board role in the next five years. Participants have a chance to listen to industry experts about all facets of nonprofit leadership including finances, budgeting, fundraising, board governance, evaluation, and more. The program is comprised of six seminars, guest speakers, panel discussions, and group interaction, and meets virtually once a month. LeaderBridge scholarship applications are due to EPI by close of business on January 12, 2024.

Emerging Leaders Program

Leadership Montgomery's Emerging Leaders is a dynamic program designed for professionals who are looking to develop and grow their leadership capabilities, enhance their knowledge of Montgomery County, and build their network. This program includes eight monthly interactive sessions, a leadership skills curriculum facilitated by certified leadership and development professionals, team projects, interactive tours, and engagements with established multi-sector leaders. Participants are also invited to attend a Cohort Meet & Greet on August 21, 2024, Homecoming on September 26, 2024 and Graduation on May 30, 2025.

Public Narrative Training

Inspire Leadership School's Public Narrative Training is facilitating a cohort of 8 local nonprofit leaders this fall. This cohort is open to nonprofit leaders at any career stage. Public Narrative is the art of telling stories that inspire and motivate people to achieve a collective goal. A compelling leadership story conveys shared values, collective agency, and hope for the future. Light on theory and rich in practice, this training teaches participants how to tell the Story of Self, Story of Us, and Story of Now.

Executive Coaching

This six-session coaching program is an opportunity for nonprofit Executive Directors and CEOs to select and work with a leadership coach to support their continued growth and development. Access Coaching Collective recruits and vets a diverse roster of coaches who possess a strong equity lens, ensuring that leaders have access to high-quality coaches of shared identities. Coaching is unique as it’s tailored to each individual and their specific goals. Through coaching, leaders can: build self-awareness; learn to better leverage their strengths; navigate challenges and new opportunities; develop strategies to address burnout; establish a growth mindset; and more. Sessions will be scheduled at times that are mutually agreed upon by the leader and coach.

BIPOC Emerging Leaders Cohort

This cohort program convenes Executive Directors with less than three years of experience and nonprofit staff who are moving into, or plan to apply for, Executive Director roles within the next 2-3 years. These emerging leaders at small nonprofits who identify as BIPOC meet virtually and in-person over sessions that include facilitated skill-building presentations by Spur Local team members, networking, and peer-driven conversations about the challenges and realities of being a leader of color in the nonprofit sector.
