Grace Kim begins new role at Department of Homeland Security

Grace Kim joins the US Department of Homeland Security as an Executive Assistant. Grace is the Founder and Vice President of Hungry 4 Change, and served as the Program Coordinator with the Jewish Council for the Aging for 2 years. Grace is currently participating in the 2023-24 Leadership Montgomery Emerging Leaders program.

Diana Ortiz's Doorways Named Nonprofit of the Year by Arlington Chamber

Doorways for Women and Families, lead by President and CEO Diana Ortiz, was recognized by the Arlington Chamber of Commerce as the 2024 Nonprofit of the Year. As a LeaderBridge alum, Diana has completed the Georgetown University CPNL Nonprofit Management Executive Certificate (2021), Positive Intelligence (2021), Access Coaching Collective (2023), and Spur Local Executive Director cohorts. Yasmine Arrington Brooks’ ScholarCHIPS Featured on National TV

Yasmine Arrington Brooks, Founder & Executive Director of ScholarCHIPs, appeared on The Drew Barrymore Show. ScholarCHIPS provides funding and a support network to college-bound young adults who have incarcerated parents. Yasmine completed the Georgetown CPNL Nonprofit Management Executive Certificate in 2021.

Tommy Amal Honored as Northern Virginia 40 Under 40

Tommy Amal was announced as the 2024 Northern Virginia 40 Under 40 by the Leadership Center for Excellence and Leadership Fairfax. Honorees demonstrate exceptional and impactful leadership in their professional and personal spheres. Tommy is the Director of Philanthropy and Enterprise Development at the National Association for College Admission Counseling and completed the Leadership Greater Washington Rising Leaders program in 2023.

Rebecca Lemos-Otero Joins Philanthropy DMV Board

Rebecca Lemos-Otero, Executive Director of HumanitiesDC, was recently elected to the Philanthropy DMV Board of Directors. Formerly known as the Washington Regional Association of Grantmakers, Philanthropy DMV is a nonprofit membership association comprised of over 100 of the Greater Washington region’s leading foundations and corporate giving programs dedicated to improving the health and vitality of the region and all who live here. Rebecca completed the Georgetown CPNL Nonprofit Management Executive Certificate Program in 2016.

Pablo de Oliveira Awarded Two National Arts Fellowships

Pablo de Oliveira, Executive Director of EducArte, recently received the 2023-24 Western States Arts Federation (WESTAF) National Leaders of Color Fellowship and the 2024 National Association of Latino Arts and Culture (NALAC) Advocacy Leadership Institute Fellowship. The WESTAF National Leaders of Color Fellowship provides participants access to field specialists, strategic learning objectives that deepen thought on anti-racist and culturally-oriented leadership practices, and national-level network and cohort building. The NALAC Advocacy Leadership Institute is a program for artists, arts administrators, and cultural workers seeking to gain valuable tools for shaping cultural policies. Pablo completed the Inspire Leadership School Public Narrative program in 2023.

Dani Faulkner Selected for Morgridge Family Foundation Fellowship

Dani Faulkner accepted a fellowship role with the Morgridge Family Foundation, serving the DC-based nonprofit Public Knowledge. The Morgridge Acceleration Program (MAP) Fellowship is a six-month program for early-to-mid-career changemakers passionate about social impact and looking to enhance their professional skills, widen their network, and collaborate with influential nonprofit executives. At Public Knowledge, Dani will develop an engagement strategy that expands their donor base and enables them to prioritize and cultivate long-term philanthropic partnerships. Dani completed the Georgetown CPNL Nonprofit Management Executive Certificate Program in 2022.

Dr. Christina Sessoms Serves as Panelist for My Brother’s Keeper Local Summit

George Garcia joins DC Mayor's Office of LGBTQ Affairs as Grants and Partnerships Specialist

George Garcia began a new role as the Grants and Partnerships Specialist with the DC Mayor's Office of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning Affairs and has been serving since February 2023. George previously spent time with Vida Senior Services and the Latin American Youth Center. George completed the Leadership Greater Washington Rising Leaders program in 2018. Javier Bustamante Serves as Panelist for Immigration Conference

Javier Bustamante, Director of the Center for Cultural Engagement at The Catholic University of America, helped organize and served as a panelist at The Catholic University of America and the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops' Immigration Conference. More than 250 individuals came together to gain knowledge and learn about the changing realities at the U.S. border and beyond. Javier completed the Georgetown CPNL Nonprofit Management Executive Certificate in 2018.

Malisha Cooper-Suggs Joins the Pew Charitable Trusts Team

Isabel Argoti Co-Leads Montgomery County Women’s Legislative Briefing

As a Commissioner of the Montgomery County Commission for Women, Isabel Argoti co-chaired the 2024 Women’s Legislative Briefing. The premier and longest-standing women’s legislative event in Maryland, this year’s Briefing brought together over 400 advocates, policymakers, and emerging leaders to empower, engage, and mobilize Marylanders around issues affecting women and girls throughout the state. Isabel is the Deputy Director of Programs at Community Bridges. She completed Georgetown CPNL’s Nonprofit Management Executive Certificate program in 2021 and is currently participating in the 2023-24 Leadership Montgomery Emerging Leaders cohort.

Arleen Ramirez Borysiewicz Elected Chair of Resolution Virginia’s Board of Directors

Arleen Ramirez Borysiewicz, Executive Director of NVMS Conflict Resolution Center, was elected Chair of Resolution Virginia's Board of Directors. Resolution Virginia supports positive dialogue and decision-making through affordable mediation, group facilitation, conflict coaching, and restorative justice services. Arleen completed the Georgetown CPNL Nonprofit Management Executive Certificate Program in 2016, the Positive Intelligence program in 2021, and the Spur Local BIPOC Executive Director Cohort in 2023.

Siu Cheung Rossmark Appointed to Maryland Statewide Commission

Siu Cheung Rossmark, Interim Executive Director of Asian American LEAD, has been appointed by the Governor of Maryland to the statewide Commission on Asian Pacific American Affairs. She has been with Asian American LEAD since 2012, serving in multiple roles as a Board Member, Board Chair, and now Interim Executive Director. Siu completed the Public Narrative program in 2023. Flordelisa Perez Dolan and John Holmes Step into New Roles at LAYC

Two LeaderBridge alumni, Flordelisa Perez Dolan and John Holmes, were recently promoted at Latin American Youth Center. Genesis Lazo Walker Featured by Georgetown University's Center for Public & Nonprofit Leadership

Genesis is currently a Network Manager at the Immigration Law and Justice Network, which provides free or low-cost legal counsel, support services, and advocacy for immigrants, refugees, and asylum-seekers. Kamren Rollins Interviewed for National Black Child Development Conference

In October, Kamren Rollins, Chief Operating Officer of Southeast Children's Fund, was interviewed by Early Learning Nation at the National Black Child Development Institute's 2023 Annual Conference. As the newly appointed President of Black Child Development Institute's Washington DC Metro affiliate, Kamren will lead efforts to improve and advance the quality of life for Black children and families through education and advocacy. Yasmine Arrington Recognized Nationally as one of CNN Heroes’ Top 10

Yasmine Arrington, Founder and Executive Director of ScholarCHIPS, is in the national spotlight as a top 10 finalist for CNN Hero of the Year. ScholarCHIPS provides funding and a support network to make college accessible for students with incarcerated parents. The 2023 CNN Hero of the Year episode aired live on December 10, 2023.

Spur Local Honors Patrice Sulton with a Changemaker Award

LeaderBridge partner Spur Local has selected Patrice Sulton, Founder and Executive Director of DC Justice Lab, as a 2023 Changemaker. Every year, Spur Local recognizes three individuals and organizations working to make a difference in the Greater Washington region, and celebrates their commitment, passion, and focus on relationships at an annual Community Changemakers event. Patrice is an attorney, professor, and criminal justice reform advocate who founded DC Justice Lab to advance community-rooted public safety reforms. Patrice participated in the LeaderBridge Positive Intelligence cohort in 2022. Congratulations on this award, Patrice!
