FOR CONNECTED, TRANSFORMATIVE, INCLUSIVE LEADERSHIP
Nonprofit leaders play an essential role in creating positive change and supporting a thriving Greater Washington region. LeaderBridge is a comprehensive leadership initiative of the Crimsonbridge Foundation that works together with nonprofit leaders and program partners to meet the leadership development interests of leaders of color and of diverse backgrounds to foster a more connected and collaborative leadership network.
LeaderBridge engages and connects nonprofit leaders in the Greater Washington region to leadership development programs that address their needs and interests. Through workshops, coaching, and programs, leaders develop skills including nonprofit management, strategic and financial planning, communications, public speaking, and more, to support their leadership and their organizations.
LeaderBridge serves rising, founding, and established leaders from locally serving nonprofits. Partial scholarships are available for all programs. The Crimsonbridge Foundation's LeaderBridge team partners with program providers committed to equity, inclusion, and the advancement of nonprofit leaders serving the Greater Washington region. Together we work to increase access, outreach, and marketing of leadership development opportunities. Program partners have included: Georgetown University’s Center for Public and Nonprofit Leadership's Nonprofit Management Executive Certificate Program, Leadership Greater Washington’s Rising Leaders program, Leadership Montgomery’s Emerging Leaders program, Inspire Leadership School's Public Narrative training, Catalogue for Philanthropy's Executive Director Cohort and BIPOC Professional Development Cohort, and Positive Intelligence (PQ) Mental Fitness with Bob Wittig. While programs differ in length, format, and focus, all are dedicated to strengthening the leadership and management capacity of the region’s nonprofit sector and nurturing the skills needed to succeed long-term.
A consistent request from leaders is for more opportunities to connect with others in the sector. The LeaderBridge Network is an evolving effort, comprised of more than 100 LeaderBridge alumni who represent the diverse leadership landscape of the Greater Washington region. By building the LeaderBridge Network together, we seek to showcase, share news, celebrate success, support, and connect nonprofit leaders in the region.
Through Network listening sessions, gatherings, and activities LeaderBridge alumni have the chance to connect and navigate challenges with peer leaders and remain a part of the LeaderBridge Network after completing their program.
Though some LeaderBridge and LeaderBridge Alumni programs are free, many are tuition-based programs. LeaderBridge scholarships work alongside employee and employer contributions to invest in talent, employee growth, and professional development of the nonprofit sector. Employer contributions are encouraged and a minimum $100 contribution toward program tuition is required for some LeaderBridge programs.
Eligibility for financial support differs by program and is detailed on the respective program websites. Scholarship funding is limited and not guaranteed. Prospective applicants should reach out directly to our leadership program partners to learn more about program costs, application deadlines, available scholarships, and meeting dates.
Since 2016, more than 140 local nonprofit leaders have advanced their professional skills with support from LeaderBridge and the Crimsonbridge Foundation. Leaders report they were able to immediately implement their learning to advance their organizations and community – cultivating board members, implementing staff training, improving finance and development structures, revising communications systems, enhancing evaluation processes, and more!
